Self-Advocacy Training
Self-Advocacy Training empowers individuals with disabilities to speak up for their needs, make informed choices, and confidently navigate work and life situations. Participants build communication skills, learn about their rights, and develop the ability to express goals and advocate for support in employment and beyond.
Work-Based Learning Experiences
Work-Based Learning Experiences provide teens and adults with disabilities hands-on exposure to real job settings. Through internships, workplace tours, and job shadowing, participants gain practical skills, explore career options, and build professional connections to support future employment.
Work Readiness Training
Work Readiness Training helps individuals with disabilities build essential skills for successful employment. Through instruction in communication, professionalism, time management, and workplace behaviors, participants gain the confidence and tools to thrive in today’s job market.
Post-Secondary Counseling
Post-Secondary Counseling guides individuals with disabilities as they explore educational and vocational opportunities beyond high school. From navigating college admissions and financial aid to identifying training programs and support services, we help participants make informed choices and achieve long-term success.
Career Camps
Our Career Camps offer youth with disabilities exciting opportunities to explore career pathways while school is out—held during summer, fall, winter, and spring breaks. These immersive, hands-on experiences blend fun with skill-building, giving participants a chance to learn about different professions, develop workplace readiness, and connect with local employers. Completion of the program may include receiving a stipend, adding extra motivation and recognition for their achievements.

Lockhart Cares Inc. is committed to helping adults with disabilities find meaningful employment. Through our partnership with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), we offer tailored services including career counseling, job placement, vocational training, and on-the-job support. Whether starting fresh or changing careers, we provide the guidance and tools for success and independence.
On-the Job Training
Our On-the-Job Training (OJT) program offers adults with disabilities the chance to build real-world experience while earning a paycheck. In partnership with local employers and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), participants receive hands-on training in actual work environments, gaining practical skills, building confidence, and preparing for long-term employment. With individualized support and guidance, Lockhart Cares helps every participant succeed, step by step, on the path to career growth and independence.
Pre-Placement Training
Our Pre-Placement Training equips adults with disabilities for real-world job success. In partnership with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), participants receive guidance in resume writing, interviewing skills, and navigating the online job search process—including completing applications and managing initial employer contact. We also provide instruction on handling workplace conflicts, understanding public transportation, and reviewing employment benefits when needed. This training lays the groundwork for confident, informed entry into the workforce with practical skills and personalized support.
Personal Identification/Document Retrieval
At Lockhart Cares Inc., we provide hands-on assistance to help participants gather the essential documents needed to pursue employment. This includes securing items like a State-issued photo ID, Social Security card, birth certificate, and driver’s license. We also support individuals in obtaining transcripts, degrees, and certificates required to achieve their vocational goals outlined in their Individual Plan for Employment. By streamlining access to these critical records, Lockhart Cares ensures every participant is prepared to take the next step toward success.
Job Coaching
Our Job Coaching services offer personalized, on-the-job support to help individuals with disabilities succeed in the workplace. In partnership with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), participants receive direct guidance from skilled coaches who assist with learning job tasks, adapting to work environments, building interpersonal skills, and overcoming challenges. Whether it's day-one nerves or long-term growth, Lockhart Cares is there every step of the way to ensure confidence, independence, and success on the job.
